Capital credit is the money you pay the cooperative for electric service in excess of the actual cost of rendering that service. These credits are allocated and are credited to individual members, in ratio to the amount of their electric billing for the year in which the capital credit occurs.
Capital credits are subject to any unpaid bills at the time of refund. These credits will be returned when the financial condition of the cooperative permits.
Each year in April the cooperative sends out 'Capital Credit Certificates' to individual members that states the amount of the credit for that year. Depending on the financial status of the cooperative, the Board of Trustees determines when and what percentage of capital credits will be made. Currently there is about a fifteen year lag in payments.....in 2012 capital credits were paid from the last half of 1988.
Please keep your address current with the cooperative if you should leave the service area in order to better locate you with your refund.
