Each year, RCEC conducts an essay contest which allows sophomore and junior students to write a 500 word essay on various cooperative topics.  To be eligible, students must be dependents of members of the cooperative.    Essays are judged in November of each year and 2 students are chosen to represent the cooperative on an all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. in June of the following year.   During this trip the students visit famous landmarks and historical shrines that testify to the greatness of those who helped build this country into what we find it today.  They also visit the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the Supreme Court and other points of interest where the important work of government is carried on. One special highlight of the trip is their visit to the Congressional Representative from their district.
